Judging

Where are we?

It is expected that the judging will be in person. The Lycée Francais de Vienne will provide the venue for the 2024 Vienna Science Fair.

We believe that many students are interested in working on science and engineering projects in an organized manner, where they can compete with their colleagues, gain some experience and recognition, and win prizes for outstanding projects.

However, if the Covid-19 situation should deteriorate to the point where we cannot hold the Science Fair at the Lycée Francais de Vienne, we will revert to a video format as we have done previously. Although not quite as satisfactory, its many good features make this format a reasonable option. Switching form one format to the other is not difficult because of the Science Fair organizers' experience. You will be notified in sufficient time to make an easy transition.

How we go forward

Judges will need to be available on 20 April 2024 for judging the student projects.

A new procedure will be tried for 2024 whereby registered judges will receive their interview assignments and all the project links via email, a few days prior to the Judges' Briefing which will be held on Wednesday, 17 April 2024. This will allow Judges more time to review the projects assigned to them and be familiar with the projects assigned and others when their team meets for the first time on 17 April.

On the day of the Science Fair, students will exhibit their projects as individuals or in a team of up to 3 students. Under the supervision of their science teacher, students will create a display board describing their projects and for use during their interview with the judges.
